RSPB Scottish bird fair

RSPB Scotland’s BIG nature festival is back 10-11 May at Hopetoun House, Edinburgh! There’s loads of activities and entertainment to keep the family happy all weekend and kids go FREE. Now in its third year, the award-winning event has gone from strength to strength - boasting an excellent range of walks, talks, workshops, children’s activities and entertainment. There is something for everyone with an interest in nature, from dedicated birders to families looking for a fantastic day out. This year there is a new events space and special events including a seabird cruise, whisky tasting, dawn chorus walks, moth trapping and a live bird ringing demonstration, to name just a few.

Top quality exhibitors offer you the latest wildlife-related technology, optics, art, literature and much more. Families can keep their young wildlife explorers entertained with a wide range of activities: nest-box building, nature photography, bush craft, owl pellet dissection, willow weaving, storytelling, face painting and pond dipping. Explore the wildlife-rich grounds, or join one of our experts for a guided walk.

You can refuel in the forest cafe and soak up the festival feel with live entertainment while you take the opportunity to sample some of Scotland’s finest whisky and real ale.

This year, our featured bird is the kittiwake and we hope to raise the profile of their extreme decline. Funds raised by the Scottish Birdfair will help us continue our work to protect this and other remarkable birds. This is a great chance to celebrate and discover more about Scotland’s world-renowned wildlife, all in the incredible grounds of one of Scotland’s most stunning stately homes.

Adult £12 (concessions £10) Children (under 16) FREE.
